I'm sorry to say, that another famous face of 2347 Squadron has left us.
Sgt Leah James, who has been with the squadron since January 2003, left us us on 25th May 2007, after an amazingly long 52 months in the Corps!
Sgt James has finished presently finished school, and will be taking a full time job over the summer before going to University in October.
Suffice to say, no words can describe our gratitude to Leah for being such a great NCO and friend.
Hopefully we will see you soon Leah!
Good luck!
Staff Part 2 & A Promotion!
Sqn Ldr Kirczey came to the squadron on 9th July 2007 to examine 3 cadets in their Staff Part 2.
Flt Sgt Jess Merridew, Cpl Luke Williams & Cdt Ryan Williams gave talks and then answered questions on the integral parts of 3 Welsh Wing, Wales & West Region, and the entire Air Cadet Organisation.
I'm delighted to say that all 3 passed with flying colours, and are now proudly sporting the yellow lanyards on their left shoulders.
On final parade, Flt Lt Flewin presented the cadets with their lanyards, and informed them on how impressed Sqn Ldr Kirczey was with their efforts.
A special commendation was given to Cpl Williams as the Sqn Ldr had told the staff it was "the best presentation" he has seen in all the years he has been examining Staff Part 2. A great commendation and something I'm sure Cpl Williams will treasure forever.
There was also a surprise promotion on parade, as Cdt Ryan Williams was handed both his lanyard and his Corporal tapes at the same time. A big congratulations for a well deserved promotion, and we all hope he will continue to rise up the ranks through the years.
Congratulations!
A big congratulations are in order, as on the 13th of July 2007, 3 presentations were awarded.
Firstly, Cdt James Evans of Red Flight was awarded his First Class badge and Certificate.
Hopefully, this will be the first rung on the ladder for James, who will hopefully be sitting his Leading exam in November.
Secondly, Corporal Ryan Williams was presented with his BTEC Certificate, equivalent to 2 GCSE's!
Well done Ryan!
Finally, there was a promotion on a second successive parade night, as Corporal Jenny Bourke was promoted to Sergeant! Jenny was extremely overwhelmed, and also extremely greatful.
Congratulations Jenny! Fantastic achievement!!
Promotions Night
On Monday 1st October 2007, interviews for promotions were held at the Squadron. The promotion places available were Corporal, Sergeant and Flight Sergeant. The candidates for the respective promotions were Cadets Kris Marke and Josh Daniel, Corporal Luke Williams and Sergeant Alex Burke.
After being set tasks on previous parade nights - such as giving a presentation on running a parade night - the test of NCO quality culminated with formal interviews on different situations. The interviewees were given different situations (eg. bullying) and were asked what they would do to resolve the problem.
After some thought on the matter, Flight Lieutenant and Warrant Officer Flewin promoted the individuals on final parade.
Congratulations to:
Cpl Marke & Cpl Daniel
Sgt Williams
and Flt Sgt Burke
