Summer Camp - RAF Wittering (15th - 22nd August)
On Saturday 15th August, 8 of our Porthcawl cadets embarked on their journey to RAF Wittering in Cambridgeshire. The cadets were Flt Sgt Luke Williams, Sgt Kris Marke, Sgt Josh Daniel, Cdt Mathew Burnell, Cdt Josh Williams, Cdt Angharad Masson, Cdt Hannah Skidmore and Cdt Sam Mills. After the reasonable bus journey (something around 6 hours), we finally arrived on the base. After settling in and unpacking, some general briefings took place, mainly on Health & Safety and a little bit about the base. The camp was also divided up into two flights - A and B.
Throughout the week, we took part in many activities including bowling, Air Experience Flying, bike riding, rifle shooting, the electronic firing range (DCCT) and laserzone; not to mention the tactical night exercise and the helicopter flight in a Puma (arranged by our very own WO Flewin). Certain activites, such as laserzone and bowling, involved pitting the flights against eachother in a bid for dominance and superiority. Both flights worked extremely hard and gelled into a co-operative force to be reckoned with. Ultimately, despite the unrivalled competition and sportsmanship, A Flight eventually came out on top.
The camp was a fantastic experience for all involved. We all made new acquaintances and many of our seasoned cadet were reunited with old friends. On a more personal note from myself, I have to say that this was without a doubt my best camp. It felt so rewarding to have a position of responsibility and to do such fantastic things which others wouldn't even imagine doing. Most importantly, it was an honour to work with such a great bunch of people. I would do it all again if I could. And I'm sure that everyone else would agree.

Porthcawl Music Festival
Many thanks go out to Sgt Josh Daniel and Cdt Josh Williams for giving up some of their weekend to help steward and pack away the Porthcawl Music Festival on the 30th May. We are grateful to these cadets for helping to keep up appearances in the public eye. They even sneaked a picture with the former mayor and the incumbent mayoress of Porthcawl. Thanks again guys!
